Loving Your Surroundings




There is something contradictory about deserts, as they provide both a peaceful environment and a lively atmosphere at the same time. In some places, you can experience such extraordinary levels of silence that even the slightest sound can be heard miles away from the place where it occurs. 



The air is filled with the sounds of birds and the buzzing of hummingbirds in other parts of the country, which can make for a very exhilarating experience (something I've learned from personal encounters such as when a hummingbird dive-bombed my head). 



There are many people, myself included, who assume that the ground in the desert would be sandy, but they are often surprised to find that it is actually lava rocks, adorned with beautiful sparkly stones, crystals, and petrified wood, which are really amazing to see when you see it for yourself. Additionally, it is also true that there are people who do come to the desert with their metal detectors in the desire of discovering hidden treasures of gold and silver that are hidden deep within the desert in hopes of striking it rich. I have been surprised to see that I have seen gold in small bits and pieces, but it is still gold. 




In the desert, there is also the force of the wind - this wind can be powerful, chilly, and very drying, so you will need plenty of conditioner and lotion to make your hair and skin look healthy in the desert. 



Obviously, the surroundings of this place are quite interesting to look at, but we must remember that there are so many kinds of people here, all with their own different interests and all with different kinds of things to do. As a result of your quest, you might even end up finding items you don't expect to find, such as alligator tracts, yes, I said alligator tracts as you hike through the ditches!  



Also, I have seen a large cat-like animal running across the road. I wasn't sure what it was, but it was very interesting to see how my mind tends to picture what it might have been, even if I wasn't sure what it was. This world is definitely full of mysteries!

Hope, Alaska

This is hard to believe since so much of Alaska was severely damaged by the 1964 earthquake, and those damages can still be seen today to this day. As a result of this earthquake, houses swayed wildly for more than four minutes. There was a shift in the tectonic plate under Prince William Sound that caused Turnagain Arm to be lowered by about six feet. In order for Hope to preserve these historical buildings they moved the buildings to the other end of town this not only showcase their commitment to preserving their heritage, but also serve as a testament to the power of teamwork and collaboration.   By working together, the community was able to overcome challenges and find innovative solutions to maintain these buildings for future generations to appreciate.  This remarkable feat of engineering and ingenuity is a source of pride for the town of Hope and serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving our past while moving towards the future. Furry Friends @ City of Rocks, Idaho

An interesting little adventure in our Truck Camper: All I can say is life happens!  Jerry and I were sitting at the table where we were enjoying a wonderful lunch (a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with Cheetos), Bruno sits next to me; usually he would be begging for a bite of my sandwich, but this time he was sitting right next to me watching the front door with a keen interest, which is when I heard a low growl from Bruno.    As I attempted to figure out what he was trying to alert me to. I was looking through the screen, I don't see anything? Then the rodent breaks through the screen, it was as if a squirrel got loose in the First Self Righteous Church of Pascagoula. We were running around trying to get rid of the rodent out of our camper while Bruno was ecstatic that he had a live squeaky toy loose and Jerry was just trying to figure out what the heck just happened.
