Valley of Fire, Moapa Valley, Nevada

Valley of Fire State Park is a stunning and diverse landscape that offers visitors a chance to experience the wonders of nature. The park is home to a variety of unique rock formations, including the famous red sandstone formations that gives the park its name. These formations were created over 150 million years ago, and they continue to awe and inspire visitors today. The park also provides a peaceful and tranquil setting for outdoor recreation, making it the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The song Viva Las Vegas has been stuck in my head, and the reason is because the movie starring ❤️Elvis Presley❤️ was filmed here in the early 1960's. The iconic race scene in the movie was shot at the Valley of Fire. This desert landscape served as the perfect backdrop for the car race.

There are also a number of other things we should not forget. One of these things is The Silica Dome, which is especially important for Star Trek fans because it is the site where legendary starship Captain Kirk died and was buried. 😢

Another movie filmed at the Valley of Fire was the outside Mars scenes from Total Recall , starring the large and in charge Arnold  Schwarzenegger that was almost totally shot in Valley of Fire.

The Valley of Fire State Park was established through the transfer of 8,760 acres of federal land to the state of Nevada in 1931. The Civilian Conservation Corps began work on the park in 1933, and it officially opened in 1934. The state legislature officially designated it as a state park in 1935, solidifying its status as a beloved natural attraction for visitors to explore and enjoy.

Overall, this place offers a diverse range of activities and sights for all ages and even allows for furry friends to join in on the adventure. From short hikes to scenic spots, this location is perfect for a day trip filled with exploration and photo opportunities. However, it is important to note that the visitors center contains a detailed museum that may not be suitable for dogs. With so many picturesque locations to visit, it is easy to miss a few, but some notable spots include Balanced Rock, Fire Wave, The Silica Dome, and Natural Arch trailhead.
