U.F.O. & Nukes

Staying on BLM land always has my interest peaked, since nothing is exactly ever free! Looking around this amazing desert area and next to a Military base is pretty cool, getting to watch the training of new Air Borne soldiers to listening to artillery is pretty awesome and peaks my interest in history, with being a wife and descendent of military soldiers and a first generation of an American Citizen is something I hold very high with respect and honor to all of the soldiers who have served. So, back to my little exploration of the history of Yuma Proving Ground. Official records from Google say the U.S. Air Force from the 1950s and 1960s have had many sightings. They say the objects were weather balloons or extremely high-altitude aircraft like the U2 plane also known as the Lady Dragon.  A multitude of military observers in the early 1950s speculated that such sightings could be unarmed intercontinental missiles being test-fired from the Soviet Union, but in those days ev...

Anticipation

I am absolutely blown away by the excitement that is building for the upcoming truck camper adventure rally. Having attended the Truck Camper Adventure Rally last year, we are hoping that this year is at least half as good as the one we went to last year. In my own personal experience as a full-timer, I find that the knowledge I have gained as well as the friends I have made as well as the people I have met are immensely encouraging, and the fact that the majority of these people are from all over the country and Canada is also very encouraging.                                    I am happy to report that the Truck Camper Adventure Rally was another successful event! We enjoyed all of the classes and the knowledgeable people that worked in them, some of whom are vacationers, some who are full-timers, and then you have the 3-4 monthers and then you have the full-timers. We enjoyed making new friends...

Like-Minded People

Laundry day! This is a very enjoyable day for us both. We get clean clothes and I get to spend time with like-minded people who have traveled to places we would like to reach in our travels one day. As an avid traveler, there is nothing more rewarding than being able to hear and learn from people who have traveled for a number of years ranging from a few years to more than 25 years of travel. We enjoy listening to all the knowledge they have to share with us, and knowing that we will be able to put their experience to use in the near future. There is no doubt that I am taking notes on my phone, learning about the back roads to just flat-out awesome adventures and with new locations and experiences to see and explore. In the course of our adventures, we have learned new recipes and how to handle situations off the grid in different states as well as on different back roads that are less traveled. Despite my admiration for all cultures all over the world, I personally really like...

Planning New Adventures

The Alaska trip is on our mind as we travel around Arizona and California, and as we plan our trip, we usually spend a few days researching the area where we plan to visit, such as the things we hope to experience, the landscape, the buildings, the coffee shops, and the arts and history of the area we are about to explore.  But this trip we are planning for our adventure to Alaska has been quite an adventure itself, from the roads, the weather, the fuel, the trash, the potable water, to what we can and cannot carry across Canada as well as how much we are allowed to bring with us, such as dog food and dog treats.  As part of our daily routine, we have to stay up to date on the type of food we eat and the amounts we can take into Canada. In the same breath, it can be a little overwhelming and exciting at the same time.  In anticipation of being able to travel to Alaska for the first time, we are trying to prioritize all the activities and sights that we would like to see, ...
